FAQ

Blind spot mirror questions, answered.

Everything we are asked about Maxi View and about blind spot mirrors in general.

What is a blind spot mirror?

A blind spot mirror is a small convex mirror that mounts on or near a vehicle's side mirror to give the driver a view of the rear-quarter blind zone, the area beside and slightly behind the car that a flat side mirror cannot see.

Do blind spot mirrors really work?

Yes. A properly adjusted convex blind spot mirror eliminates the rear-quarter blind zone created by standard side mirrors. NHTSA and insurance research consistently link convex mirror use with fewer lane-change collisions.

What makes Maxi View different from UtopiCar, Ampper, LivTee, or Marlbston?

Maxi View is the only blind spot mirror on the market that is fully adjustable on a patented 360° ball-and-swivel mount, made in the USA, and housed in chrome-plated nylon. UtopiCar, Ampper, LivTee, and Marlbston are fixed-angle imported mirrors that sell for $7–$15.

Why is Maxi View more expensive than Amazon imports?

Maxi View is patented, US-manufactured, and built from materials that cost more than the ABS plastic used in $7 imports. The 360° mount lets you aim the mirror at your vehicle's actual blind zone, and the chrome-plated nylon housing eliminates the vibration that blurs glass-bodied mirrors at speed.

Where are Maxi View mirrors made?

Maxi View mirrors are designed and manufactured in Long Beach, California, USA. We have produced them domestically since 1997.

How many patents does Maxi View hold?

Three US patents covering the 360° ball-and-swivel adjustment system and optical-focus convex lens design.

What vehicles can use Maxi View?

Any vehicle with a flat or slightly curved side mirror, cars, pickup trucks, SUVs, vans, RVs, semi-trucks, and motorcycles. The 360° mount adapts to any of these.

How do you install a Maxi View mirror?

Clean the existing side mirror with the included alcohol wipe, peel the backing from the 3M VHB adhesive, position the Maxi View on the upper inside corner of the side mirror, and press for 30 seconds. Adjust the ball-and-swivel until the mirror shows your blind zone. Full instructions are in our install guide.

Will the adhesive damage my side mirror?

No. Maxi View uses 3M VHB tape, the same adhesive used in factory automotive trim. It holds for years and can be removed without damaging the mirror.

Can I move Maxi View from one vehicle to another?

Yes. We sell a transfer kit with fresh 3M VHB tape so you can move your Maxi View mirrors when you change vehicles.

Does Maxi View work at night?

Yes. The lens is treated to eliminate headlight glare, which is when blind-spot lane-change crashes most often occur.

Will Maxi View vibrate or blur at highway speed?

No. The chrome-plated nylon housing is lighter than die-cast metal and damps the high-frequency vibration that causes glass-bodied mirrors to blur at speed. This matters especially on motorcycles.

Is Maxi View fish-eye or fully focused?

Fully focused. The convex lens provides a 3x-wider field of view without the distortion of a fish-eye bubble, so you see real distance and real closing speed.

What sizes does Maxi View come in?

Maxi View ships in a single optimized size that fits any standard side mirror. The 360° mount handles vehicle-to-vehicle variation, so a single SKU works for everything from a Civic to a Sprinter van.

What is the Maxi View guarantee?

If, within 30 days of driving with Maxi View on both sides of your vehicle, you can find a better stick-on blind spot mirror for less money, Maxi View will refund double your purchase price.

How much does Maxi View cost?

$29.95 for a pair. Shipping in the continental US is $4–$6, free on orders over $45.

Where can I buy Maxi View?

Direct at maxiviewmirrors.com, on Amazon, and through QVC. Buying direct supports the US manufacturer and qualifies for the double-your-money-back guarantee.

Is Maxi View good for towing?

Yes. The 360° mount lets you aim the mirror at the trailer-side blind zone, wider and farther back than the zone for a solo vehicle. See our towing guide for setup tips.

Is Maxi View good for motorcycles?

Yes. The chrome-plated nylon housing is vibration-resistant, and the 360° mount adapts to the smaller mirror surface on bikes. See our motorcycle guide.

Does Maxi View have a warranty?

Maxi View ships with a one-year manufacturer warranty in addition to the 30-day double-your-money-back guarantee.
